What is Colonoscopy?
Direct colon screening is a convenient way to schedule a colonoscopy without seeing us in the office first. Colon
cancer screening with colonoscopy starting at age 45 is a very important step in maintaining your health. After all,
colon cancer is the second highest cause of cancer deaths in the U.S. Colonoscopy is a safe, painless, 30-minute
the procedure under sedation. During colonoscopy, our gastroenterologists will look for polyps in the large intestine.
Polyps are growths that can become cancerous if left alone. Most polyps are removed and tested for cancer.
Patients are called with the results in 1-2 weeks.
Are you between the ages of 45-75 years old and do NOT have any of the following:
- Rectal Bleeding
- Prior history of polyps
- Recent, unexplained change in weight
- Change in bowel habits
- Advanced Cardiac Disease
- Abdominal pain
- Take blood thinners
- Advanced Lung Disease
- Prior history of colon cancer
- Currently on dialysis
- Currently on oxygen
- Require a cardiac clearance
